Poe M. Allphin is a PhD student in musicology at the CUNY Graduate Center and an adjunct lecturer at Queens College. His scholarship is grounded in queer and trans archival work and oral history. Poe is also interested in the intersections between disability, gender, and the voice. Current research includes transfeminist histories of the women’s music movement from the ’70s-’90s and assimilation, activism, and AIDS responses in 1980s gay men’s choruses. His academic and creative work has been published in Resonance, Transgender Studies Quarterly and the Anthology of New Music: Trans & Nonbinary Voices, Vol. 1.
